     We have several exciting activities occurring at Riverview this week!

     Monday is the once in a lifetime solar eclipse!  If students have returned permission forms, they will be allowed to view various stages of the eclipse outside with the proper eyewear while supervised by school personnel and/or administration.

     We will be discussing what to do in case of a crisis event at Riverview and practice our strategies.

    

     Due to the eclipse activities and pretesting for classes, we will not have a quiz this week.  We will begin a quiz/test schedule next week.

Welcome to 8th grade!  (Also, welcome to two 6th grade Classes)

 

This year we will have 8th grade Physical Science which is a basic chemistry class and basic physics class. 

 

We have an SOL in the Spring!  It will cover material from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science classes.  Hopefully we will finish the 8th grade section by April, 2018, and we will have ample time for review of 6th and 7th grade material.

 

Tests/Quizzes are usually given on Thursday.  Study guides for the Tests/Quizzes are usually handed out on Mondays.

 

***This year we have a special event occurring August 21, 2017.  It is a Solar Eclipse which we should be able to view--93% coverage!   Because of this special event, we will be discussing the eclipse in both 8th grade and 6th grade science-- 8th grade will be a review of SOL 6.8 a, d, e and 6th grade will be studying SOL 6.8 a, d, e.

We will discuss that some objects can be made into a temporary magnet. We will discuss hoe the aurora borealis is caused by magnetic forces.
