We will be reviewing our reading SOL’s, please continue to review with your child at home.

Reading – We will continue reading in our Journeys reading book and reviewing reading/language arts skills. Students will be responsible for reading the assigned stories at home. We will have class discussions about the stories and an open book test will be given on the scheduled dates.

Students will not write vocabulary definitions or spelling sentences. Students will no longer have regular spelling or vocabulary tests on Friday. Grades will be taken from classroom work.

 

We will continue to read our chapter book, “How to Eat Fried Worms” by Thomas Rockwell

30. wind vane- (weather vane) a device that shows the direction of wind

31. hygrometer- measures humidity or water vapor in the air

32. rain gauge- an instrument used to measure amounts of precipitation (rainfall)

33. thermometer- an instrument used to measure temperature of the air (hot /cold)

34. thunderstorm- produced by heating of the earth surface producing large amounts of quickly rising water vapor. There is usually thunder, lightning, rainfall, and sometimes wind.

35. hurricane- formed when a group of thunderstorms gather in a circular pattern. It forms over tropical waters. When winds reach 75 mph, the event is classified as a hurricane. Usually high winds and lots of rain/ Can cause lots of destruction/can be called typhoon or cyclone in different parts of the world
