  • This is the most difficult spelling lesson of the year.  Your child will definitely need to study for this test. These words are easily confused with other words.  Some students will have trouble with the meaning of some of the words. 
  • All words must be written in cursive handwriting.
  • Students will not write their sentences at home. For thsi week only, we will write the sentences in class.  We will go over the pronunciation and meaning of each word.  Then students will be expected to write sentences.

Grammar: SOL 2.7 (c)                                                                                                                                                                                                Students will be learn how the prefixes mis- and mid- change the meaning of words when added to the base word.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       The prefix   mid- means in the midddle.  When the prefix mid- is added to the word night it changes the word to midnight which means the middle of the night.                                                                                                                                                                                              The prefix mis- means bad, wrong, or incorrectly. When the prefix mis- is added to the beginning of the base word place, it changes the meaning to put in the wrong place.
