Reading: 

On Thursday, Febraury, 18, the students will read the first half of the story "How to Hide an Octopus and Other Sea Creatures" abnd the Theme Connectins at the end of the story. 

On Friday, Feb,19, the students will read the last half of the story "how o Hide and Octopus and Other Sea Creatures" plus the Science Connection at the end of ths stroy.

On Monday, students will read "How to Hide an Octopus and Other Sea Creatures".

On Tuesday, students will read "How to Hide an Octopus and Other Sea Creatures.  THey will also have the vocabulary quiz and comprehension test on the story.

Students will get a new reading assignment sheet on Tuesday.

Spelling: SOL 2.4, 2.12

Students will test on Unit 4 Lesson 3, on Friday and Tuesday.  This is the lesson the students were studying before our long break.

Students are expected to recognize the prefixwes dis- and un-.  Students must be able to tell how the prefix changes the meaning of teh base (root) word.

Students are learning about conjunctions.  They are also learning to recognize and write compund sentences.

Math:
SOL 2.3  Students are learning about fractions. 

SOL 2.16 Students have not had sufficient time to complete their study of geometry, so students will continue to review geometry.

SOL 2.6, 2.7  Students are continuing to add and subtract two digit numbers with and withoug regrouping.  They must also be able to estimate the sum and difference of two digit numbers.

Math Facts: SOL 2.5   Students are still practicing to gain proficiency in adding 6, 7, 8, and 9 to another number.

Science: SOL 2.7 

I gave students another copy of the study guide, in case parents or studnets misplaced them during the long break.  The test will be given on Monday.  I don't usually give a test on Monday, but I feel the students know the material.

Social Studies:  SOL 2.2  Students are studying the Pueblo Indians.  I gave the students another copy of the study gudie.  The test will be on Wed. Feb. 24.

Students will be taking a long reading assessment.  We won't be taking a grade on the reading assessment.  It will be used to determine mastery of skills and remediation that are needed.
