Book Report 1
Due Date: 12/6/2016
Subject: English

Your child's first book report will be due on December 7th.  The book does NOT have to be an AR book, but it should be within your ZPD.

Type: Cereal Box Book Report

Requirements:

1. Cover a Cereal box with plain paper. (You can wrap the box like a present.)

2. On the front of the box put:

     a. the title

     b. the author's name

     c. a drawing of a scene

     d. a short summary of the book (This should be in your own words. This is NOT the summary that appears on the back of the book!)

3. On a side panel put a list of characters and a description of each one.

4. A review of the book goes on the other side panel. (What you thought about the book, whether or not your would recommend it, etc)

5. On the back of the box, make up a game based on the book. The game can be in any format you choose, but is should contain details relevant to the book.

6. Put your first and last name on the top of the box.

7. Double check to make sure you have included ALL of the above requirements in your report. We will share these in class on the day they are due. Please put thought and time into the project. It should be fun, but show that you read the book and put your best effort into the project.

Persuasive Paper
Due Date: 11/4/2016
Subject: Language Arts

We have started working on our first story. This story is a persuasive paper where the students are trying to get the other students to vote them in for principal.

Since this is our first story, we are going through the whole process together. Over the next few days, students will be bringing home parts that they are currently working on. We will be do the story piece by piece in the classroom and parts will be sent home to be finished. When the revising, editing, and proofreading starts, please help your child go over their paper.

I have created notes to help the students with every part of the writing process, which should be in the writing section of their binder.

As well as writing a paper, the students will also be making a campaigning poster. I will provide them with a sheet of construction paper & markers so they may decorate (color,drawings,pictures,etc.) and place in the hall during election week.

The paper & poster are due on Nov. 4th.
